Student is library scholarship recipient
Priscilla Jovine, originally from New York City, now a resident of Lower Macungie Township, is a recipient of the Ava Faltz-Miller Memorial Scholarship. This scholarship is presented by the University Libraries with the purpose of providing recognition and financial assistance to outstanding students who have demonstrated an interest in library science.
"I have worked in academic libraries for 35 years and supervised hundreds of student workers. Priscilla is at the top of the list when it comes to work performance, commitment, dedication, and reliability," says Dennis Phillips, associate librarian at Penn State Lehigh Valley. "She is a library advocate while promoting our services and resources and a role model for younger students who work in and use our library."
Jovine, a senior elementary education major, has worked as a student assistant at the Lehigh Valley campus library for three years. She also helped the library during its move to the campus' new location in Center Valley by packing library materials, shifting the collections, and physically withdrawing hundreds of books.
