Call for proposals for annual Diverse Literacies Conference
Penn State Lehigh Valley is pleased to announce a Call for Proposals for the fourth annual Diverse Literacies Conference, scheduled from 7:30 a.m.–2:30 p.m. on Saturday, October 9, 2010, at the Bear Creek Mountain Resort and Conference Center in Macungie, Pennsylvania. The conference theme is Multiple Literacies Development: Utilizing Learners' Social, Cultural, and Linguistic Funds of Knowledge.
The keynote speaker for the 2010 conference is Anne Haas Dyson, a renowned literacy scholar, whose research focuses on language and literacy development in the early childhood years. Dr. Haas Dyson's research looks critically at literacy development in urban settings and the effect of the social and ideological impact that environment has upon literacy in contemporary society.
Presenters will have the option of submitting proposals for three types of presentations: Demonstration Workshop, Research Session, and Graphic Display Session.
