Penn State Lehigh Valley Announces New Faculty Appointments

Penn State Lehigh Valley has announced the following appointments to its faculty:

 

Karen Kackley-Dutt has received a one-year appointment as instructor of biology. Kackley-Dutt received a Ph.D. in botany and plant pathology from the University of Maryland, College Park, MD. Most recently, she was assistant professor of biology at Kutztown University, and also taught biology classes at Cedar Crest College in Allentown. While at Penn State Lehigh Valley, Kackley-Dutt will teach "Biology: Basic Concepts and Biodiversity."

 

Debra Miller has been appointed elementary education program coordinator. She received her Ed.D. in educational leadership from the University of Pennsylvania, and M.Ed. in special education from East Stroudsburg University. Prior to coming to Penn State Lehigh Valley, Miller served as director of curriculum, instruction, and professional development for Parkland School District. At Penn State Lehigh Valley, she will also instruct students in the course "Teaching Exceptional Students in General Education Settings."

 

Dinesh Pai has been appointed assistant professor of business administration. Pai received a Ph.D. in supply chain management from Rutgers University in New Jersey, and an M.B.A. in marketing from Pune University, India. He previously served as an instructor at Rutgers Business School. Pai also held positions at multiple companies in Mumbai, India. At Penn State Lehigh Valley, he will teach courses in "Basic Management Concepts," and "Business Logistics Management."

 

Harold Scholz has received a one-year appointment as instructor of physics. Scholz received a Ph.D. in physics from The Ohio State University and a master of science from the University of Akron, Ohio. He previously taught at Lehigh Carbon Community College, Moravian College, and the University of Akron. At Penn State Lehigh Valley, Scholz will teach "Introduction to Engineering Design" and "General Physics: Electricity and Magnetism."

 

Kent Zimmerman has been appointed Business Degree Program Coordinator. Zimmerman received his MBA from Lehigh University in Bethlehem, PA.  He was formerly principal of Workforce Development Resources in Bethlehem and, prior to that, an associate dean and director of the Center for Business and Industry at Northampton Community College.  At Penn State Lehigh Valley he will also teach courses in business administration.
