Campus Reports Successful Food Drive; Launches Holiday Drive for Troops
On the heels of the successful Annual Thanksgiving Food Drive, the Student Government Association (SGA) has announced a drive for supplies to support deployed American troops.
"Thanks to the generosity of the students, faculty and staff, we were able to once again meet our goal of delivering 41 Thanksgiving meals to the Sixth Street Shelter in Allentown," says Cindy Ngyuen, coordinator of student activities. "A caseworker at the shelter expressed their gratitude saying that Penn State Lehigh Valley's donation each year is 'priceless.'"
Donations for the supply drive for the American troops are requested to be dropped off in the SGA office by December 5, 2008. Suggestions for donations include personal items such as baby wipes, skin lotion, disposable razors, toothbrush, toothpaste, eye drops, and zip lock bags, phone cards, AA batteries, magazines, and books. In addition, snack items like beef jerky, energy/power bars, hot sauce, sunflower seeds, peanuts, candy, and chewing gum top the list of troop requests.
