Local artist exhibits artwork
During the month of September, the Penn State Lehigh Valley Concourse Gallery will feature artwork by local artist Harvey D. Bonner. The exhibit, entitled Ships and Seascapes, is free and open to the public Monday through Thursday from 8 a.m. until 9 p.m. and Fridays from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.
Bonner is a graduate of The Philadelphia College of Art (P.C.A.), now the University of the Arts. After post-graduate work at P.C.A., The Choinard Institute of Art in Los Angeles, and considerable time as an advertising designer, he joined the Medallic Design Department of a large private mint. In retirement, Bonner found himself as an easel painter with most of his work in oil on canvas…"because it is most plastic and most forgiving to those of us who are experimenters." His work is impressionistic in style, sometimes romantic in nature. His interest of horses, ships at sea, and figures from life, fiction, history, and fantasy is represented in his canvases.
The gallery is located at Penn State Lehigh Valley, 8380 Mohr Lane, Fogelsville.
