Study under way to measure Latino economic contributions

7/18/2008 —

Penn State Lehigh Valley and the Latino Economic Council of the Lehigh Valley have launched a study intended to provide a broad picture of the Hispanic contribution to the Lehigh Valley’s business and professional economy. Latinos comprise about 10 percent of the Lehigh Valley population, representing a major growth in the numbers of Latinos in the region over the past two decades. This study will both measure Latinos’ economic contributions and assess their needs for successful economic mobility.

The success of the study depends on the participation of Latino business owners and professionals. Business owners interested in participating in the study are encouraged to call 610-285-5052 to set up an interview.

Professional should complete the brief online survey at http://www.socialdatainsights.com/surveys/screen.htm. A link is available on the Penn State Lehigh Valley homepage at http://www.lv.psu.edu/. The survey takes about 10 - 15 minutes to complete. All responses to the online survey will be anonymous.

The study is funded through contributions from the Lehigh Valley Economic Development Corporation, Air Products, Sovereign Bank, the Lehigh Valley Workforce Investment Board, and the Greater Lehigh Valley Chamber of Commerce Foundation. For additional information, contact Dr. Jennifer Parker Talwar at 610-285-5052.
