Dr. Nichola D. Gutgold, Associate Professor of Communication Arts and Sciences at Penn State Lehigh Valley, has been selected as a Visiting Scholar at California State University, Chico. Dr. Gutgold plans to visit the CSU Chico campus from October 6 – 8, 2008, with a presentation entitled"Paving the Way for Madam President" set for October 8, 5–7 p.m.In 1998, then President Manuel A. Esteban announced the creation of the Visiting Scholars Program, designed to enrich the learning and intellectual environment of the University, as well as provide an opportunity for the continued scholarly growth and development of faculty and staff. President Paul J. Zingg continues to promote the program started by President Esteban. A Pennsylvania native, Gutgold graduated from King’s College, Wilkes-Barre, Pa., in 1984 with a double major in mass communications and English. In 1988, she earned a master’s degree in Speech Communication from Bloomsburg University, and in 1999 she earned a Ph.D. in Speech Communication from Pennsylvania State University. Gutgold teaches a variety of speech communication courses, coordinates the honors program, advises students, and engages in research.
