Penn State Lehigh Valley Students Canning for THON

10/16/2007 —

To raise money for THON 2008, Penn State Lehigh Valley students will be "canning" on October 19 – 20, from 9 a.m. – 9 p.m. at the Wal-Mart stores in Trexlertown and Whitehall. A tradition of THON fundraising activities, "canning" weekends solicit donations from area residents for this worthy cause. Working with Wal-Mart management, the students have acquired the proper approval to "can" at these locations.

THON is a year-long fundraising event benefiting The Four Diamonds Fund, Conquering Childhood Cancer, at the Penn State Children's Hospital in Hershey, PA. On February 22 – 24, 2008, more than 700 students will dance continuously for 46 hours at Penn State University Park campus with students from all Penn State campuses and many Penn State organizations. THON takes place in the Bryce Jordan Center, which allows for greater participation, improved safety, and better support services for everyone involved in the event.

If you are interested in contributing to The Four Diamonds Fund or have any questions, please call Penn State Lehigh Valley at 610-285-5299 and leave a message for the THON committee.
