Student Appreciation and Recognition Award Recipient Named

Emory Guffrovich was presented with the 2007 Student Appreciation and Recognition Award (SARA) during the 21st annual Honors Convocation at Penn State Lehigh Valley. The SARA award is presented annually to a staff or faculty member for outstanding work and dedication to the success of students on campus.  The award recipient is selected by the student body through the Student Government Association.

In 2004, Guffrovich was the recipient of the Outstanding Part-Time Faculty Award, presented to an adjunct faculty member who has shown an outstanding commitment to the students. In addition to admissions and teaching responsibilities, "Guff," as he is affectionately known by co-workers and students alike, is also coach of the Penn State Lehigh Valley Golf team.  

Guffrovich received his B.S. in Secondary Education Social Studies in 1973 and was awarded a master’s in Art History in 1978 from Bloomsburg State College. He joined the staff at Penn State Lehigh Valley in 1999 as Admissions Officer. Guffrovich and his wife, Margaret, reside in Pittston.
