PENN STATE TEAM TAKES THIRD PLACE AT CYCLING CHAMPIONSHIP
The Penn State University Cycling Team, comprised of students from the Penn State Lehigh Valley and University Park campuses, recently competed in the National Collegiate Track Cycling Championships in Indianapolis, Ind. The two-time defending national champions, led by Coach Jim Young, finished third overall out of more than 30 collegiate teams. The team was anchored by the performance of Penn State Lehigh Valley student Erica Allar, who captured three individual national titles as well as being named best overall female cyclist. The team also won the premier co-ed team event -- the Italian Pursuit. First-year Penn State Lehigh Valley cyclists Rodney Santiago and Richard Schenk each captured all-American honors in several events.
