Continuing Education offers workshops for educators
Penn State Lehigh Valley Continuing Education is offering two summer workshops for educators. The workshops, which will be held at the campus in Center Valley, are each approved for five Act 48 hours.
Keys for Effective Communication in the Classroom
The purpose of this workshop is to provide participants with a collection of techniques to foster effective communications when working with a diverse student population. Information will be presented on pragmatics and cultural diversity. Emphasis will be placed upon conflict management and resolution through understanding the connection between language, power, and gender. This workshop is ideal for teachers, administrators, guidance counselors, school psychologists, and any person who works within the educational system.

Classroom Interventions for Students with Emotional/Behavioral Issues
This workshop will provide participants with information that can enable them to understand and implement classroom interventions for students with specific psychological, social, and medical issues. Strategies related to depression, attention deficit disorder, oppositional defiant disorder, suicide, bullying, death/grieving, and many more topics will be covered. Participants will receive handouts with practical suggestions to foster a supportive and positive school environment.
