Campus invited to evening of 'Poetry and Pizza'
The campus community is invited to listen to the poetic talents of Penn State Lehigh Valley students during an evening of "Poetry and Pizza." The event will be held from 7-8:30 p.m., Thursday, April 30, in the Atrium at the Lehigh Valley campus in Fogelsville.
During the event, students who submitted their work to be published in "Velocity," the campus literary journal, and to the Creative Writing Contest, will recite selections of their poetry.
"The purpose of 'Poetry and Pizza' is three-fold," said Eric Chiles, instructor of English at Penn State Lehigh Valley. "We hope to build interest in poetry as spoken creative expression; to help teach students that poetry is meant to be heard, not just read; and to show that recitation of poetry adds nuance and depth to its meaning."
