Featured SAGE speaker will discuss "The Preservation of Youth"
Raymond L. Singer, M.D., cardiothoracic surgeon and member of Lehigh Valley Heart and Lung Surgeons, will serve as guest lecturer for the April session of SAGE at 12 noon on Friday, April 3, at Penn State Lehigh Valley’s Corporate Learning Center in Bethlehem.
"No fancy formulas. No pseudoscience. And, certainly, no new fad diet," says Dr. Singer. As one of the region's most experienced heart surgeons, Dr. Singer will discuss concepts that he believes can help keep a person out of his operating room. After performing nearly 5,000 heart and lung operations at Lehigh Valley Health Network, Dr. Singer says he has concluded that the preservation of youth depends on three simple concepts that he will share with those on the quest to stay young – as well as lessons learned from centuries ago.
Dr. Singer is Board Certified in Cardiothoracic Surgery and has performed nearly 5,000 heart and lung operations since completing his training in 1992. He is recognized as having one of the most successful heart and lung surgical practices in the region. He holds an academic position as Clinical Professor of Surgery at the Pennsylvania State University College of Medicine.
At Lehigh Valley Hospital, Dr. Singer is the Associate Chief of the Division of Cardiothoracic Surgery. He is also the Co-Director of Lehigh Valley Heart and Lung Surgeons, a group of six heart and lung surgeons providing exclusive cardiothoracic surgery services at Lehigh Valley Hospital and Health Network. In addition, he serves as the Medical Director for the Open Heart Unit and the Transitional Open Heart Unit at LVH-Cedar Crest Campus.
Dr. Singer was born and raised in Philadelphia. He received a bachelor of science degree from Muhlenberg College in 1980. Dr. Singer graduated from the University of Pennsylvania School of Medicine in 1984, where he received the George W. Householder, III Memorial Prize for Clinical Cardiovascular Research. Dr. Singer completed both his General Surgery and Cardiothoracic Residencies at Thomas Jefferson University Hospital.
