Specialist Certificate: Teaching Writing and Literacy

(15 graduate level credits) - The Specialist Certificate is designed to afford educators deep study in all aspects of teaching literacy. Best Practices Conference

The Best Practices Conference is a dynamic forum for area educators to learn about research and strategies for implementing writing-to-learn strategies in their classrooms. Each year, conference participants engage in interactive workshops showcasing classroom inquiry projects conducted by our Invitational Summer Institute participants. Upon completion of our 4-week summer writing institute, participants propose and conduct action research projects in their various classrooms, write inquiry narratives, and present their findings at each year's conference. Diverse Literacies Conference

This conference focuses on significant, current educational issues such as the diverse literacies students bring into our classrooms, the diverse literacy competencies necessitated by and developed through modern living, and the need to effectively reach all our students, the conference is attended by interested educators of various grade levels and student populations.   Learn more about The Diverse Literacies Conference

Inquiring Minds: Finding the Voice of the Student Scientist 

A STEM and Literacy Academy: This 4-day academy, a partnership between LVWP and the Da Vinci Science Center, offers educators the opportunity to investigate the intersection of STEM and literacy. Through hands-on inquiry, practice in disciplinary discourse, and project-based learning, participants will explore the relationship between science and literacy and the way each informs and enhances the other. The Lehigh Valley Writing Project

The Lehigh Valley Writing Project a member site of the National Writing Project. The NWP is a network of sites anchored at colleges and universities and serving educators across disciplines and at all levels, early childhood through university. Three Days/Three Modes 

An Academy for Implementing the PA Core Standards in Literacy: This three-day academy offers educators across all grade levels and disciplines (K-12) an opportunity to develop a deeper understanding of how the PA Core Standards in literacy, specifically writing, impact classroom practices. Through and exploration of the PA Core, participants will uncover the curricular possibilities of the three modes (argumentative, informative, narrative) across all content areas and learn how to integrate them through classroom writing in rich and meaningful  ways .  Learn more about Three Days/Three Modes

Senior Adults Gaining Enrichment Program (SAGE)
