FTCAP: Student and Family Agenda
12:00-12:15 pm Centre Hall Student/Family Check-In Upon arrival to our campus, students and their families will check-in at table and pick up FTCAP information folder.
12:00-12:45 pm Student Registration Students will obtain a Penn State photo ID and computer access account. Photo ID is required (valid driver’s license, official state ID card, or passport). A high school ID card is NOT acceptable.
12:50-12:55 pm Auditorium, Room 135 Introduction Conducted by the Division of Undergraduate Studies Staff
12:55-1:10 pm Auditorium Welcome Conducted by the Chancellor Ann Williams, Ed.D. or Director of Academic Affairs Kenneth Thigpen, Ph.D.
1:10-1:30 pm Auditorium More Penn Statre University Information! The Director of Academic Affairs, Dr. Kenneth Thigpen, will discuss topics such as academic integrity, academic expectations, and Penn State Principles.
1:30-21:10 pm Auditorium Review of Academics Staff Members of the Division of Undergraduate Studies and the Learning Center will discuss topics such as enrollment controls, entrance to major requirements, and ALEKS, as well as providing a general overview of academic programs.
2:10 pm Break for Parents; First Group of Students for Individual Interviews (remaining students will be escorted to an assigned room for General Education and eLion Instruction) Students will meet individually with an assigned adviser to interpret/discuss placement test scores, confirm college of enrollment, and discuss “Recommended Academic Plan" of study for intended major goal(s).
2:30-3:30 pm Auditorium “University 101 Crash Course for Parents” (ALL PARENTS INVITED AND ENCOURAGED TO ATTEND) Staff members of the Bursar’s Office and Student Affairs will share information and answer questions about the services and resources that support and enhance student success and personal growth. Topics may include student activities, health and wellness, judicial affairs information, and fall orientation.
3:30-5:00 pm Students Complete Individual Appointments and Schedule Classes on eLion DUS Staff and Student Staff will offer eLion tutorials and assist in finalizing fall schedule of classes.
