Call for proposals issued for Diverse Literacies Conference
Penn State Lehigh Valley, in conjunction with the Lehigh Valley Writing Project, is pleased to announce a call for proposals for the eighth annual Diverse Literacies Conference, scheduled for Sat., Sept. 27, 2014, at the Bear Creek Resort in Macungie, Pa. The deadline for proposal submission is May 24.
This year’s conference theme is "Language as a Medium, a Toll, and an Outcome." Tom Romano, a renowned writing scholar, will be the keynote speaker for the event. Romano's research encourages teachers to depart from the safety zone of narrative and exposition in order to explore multigenre writing.
Conference organizers are inviting proposals for presentations from a variety of backgrounds, including elementary teachers; reading, ESL and other specialists; secondary content area teachers; higher education faculty; adult education instructors, preservice teachers; and other professionals. Presenters can submit proposals for three types of presentations: Demonstration Workshop, Research Session, or Graphic Display Session.
